90% of the times, as a rough estimation, our conflicts wouldn't be a thing if people were less ignorant. If we all understood consequence, logic, the topics that we're talking about, other perspectives outside our own, we wouldn't be so separated and isolated from each other. I'd say that most of us seek the same general life goals; happiness, peace and a good life, and instead of searching for the best method together all we do is fight to "protect" our own side.
 devastating

Last day I was talking to some girl about religion and she said something about Christianity being a religion that is open for "evolution" and that there are many interpretations of the Bible which is why many believers support modern ideals. From the Atheistic view those news sound full of hope and amazing, finally Christians will stop being so conservative and close minded, but should I defend this as an Atheist. Should I welcome ignorance whenever it benefits me?
Well I didn't do it. You'd think that it's because I hold deontological set of views but it's actually because her lack of knowledge on religion is what's keeping her there. On the long run, teaching her that "interpreting" and "evolving" the words of God to your liking and new set of rules is quite a serious sin will keep her away from believing things that were never written, thinking that the Christian historically misapplied it and thinking that God is a good being. This will actually benefit me and everyone else around me. Of course, that's if she has a sense of personal philosophy strong enough to drop it. If she doesn't that would just take us yet again to the same conclusion of ignorance.

If that was kind of hard to understand let me make it more clear using an example:

Muslim tells me that islam has evolved to be against pedophilia  It's false, small debate and I correct him  He realises that he was wrong. Muslim guy has 2 routes now:

1) Accepting the fact that islam is pro pedophilia, fully tolerating it and believing that God's choice is best not understanding how pedophilia could be harmful (which I hope isn't the case since he was against it a sec ago) or/ and has weak ideals backed up by the vain.

2) Is a smart guy and chooses to have some critical thinking towards his religion which will slowly pull him away from it the more he discovers things like these. He doesn't seek defending islam as if it's his own family, he seeks truth, justice, peace and knowledge.

But what happens if he doesn't accept this correction of mine, well then there's option 3:

3) Fight Eden.

Now apply my example on a larger scale, to those who don't care about suffering people because they can't imagine their pain, those who cannot comprehend other perspectives, the ones who don't understand or seek logic even those who didn't pick up a book in their lives before.

Oh wait, but some people aren't just dumb but ALSO evil. Sadly there are lots of cases where someone uses people's stupidity to their advantage. It just benefits them since like this everyone is easier to control, to play with. Why teach people truth and critical thinking when they can just be dumb mfs who are willing to vote for me after I convinced them to believe something that makes absolutely no sense¡¡¡
It brings me money, it brings me power, what else do I want¿¿!? Educated people who are gonna go against me? Nahhhh
If you think that opinions are barely a thing and usually just a matter of knowing or not, does that mean that you think you're always the one in the right? Does that also mean that you're not willing to listen to anyone's thoughts just because you know a lot about X topic?

These are the type of questions you would ask if you had the IQ level of a toddler. No one knows everything and a rule/idea can seem very convincing till a new one comes around completely replacing it. These things happened over and over during history especially in science tho it's not only limited to that, it also happens to everyday things. So I'm willing to be as open minded as possible and I'll always advocate for truth instead of sticking to my beliefs no matter what as if I'm the goalkeeper in a football match.

And as I said, ignorance is what divides us not opinions. No one is willing to fight you over orange or apple but always to defend their incorrect and false conclusions. Nothing new here.

But why is there so much ignorance? Yes true, humans don't know everything but many of these debates have been resolved over and over, how come that we are still fighting over them. Because that's what they want. Stay dumb and start conflict over meaningless crap.

If you read all of this, thank you -- EDEN _
